Si tienes pensado cambiar de ordenador, todo depende de lo que quieras ¿ortátil, sobremesa, un ultraportátil? Si lo quieres para dibujar yo escogería un PC de capacidad decente (Sin ser muy avanzado, a menos que también lo quieras para jugar) con Windows XP como sistema operativo principal (Por tema de compatibilidad con los programas y consumo de recursos) con posibilidad de colocarle Hackintosh (Sistema operativo de Apple) si quieres un MAC (Los ordenadores de Apple son MUY caros para lo que ofrecen), y si te apetece usar software libre puedes ponerle una distro de Linux especializada en edición de material multimedia como UbuntuStudio y que tenga instalado Wine (Para usar programas de Windows)

En caso de algo portátil, un Tablet PC (si puedes permitírtelo) o un portátil con una pantalla grande son la mejor opción.

Mac is better for anti-virus and it looks better. And if you were a pc user you just get used to mac. Of course it depends on what you're using computer for. Mac is better for all arts. I mean with photoshop etc. And if needed you can always put Linux or Windows to mac put you can't put Mac OS X to PC.

I'm surprised at how many people are saying PCs, especially when people usually say "Artists use Macs."

I personally hate Macs with a passion. I grew up on a PC, I'm comfortable with it. I've never had a problem with a PC, and my friend has had to take her Mac into the shop for repairs 3 times and it's not even a year old. Yeah, they don't get viruses, but if you're careful a PC won't either! I need a new laptop soon too, so I'll be following what people say. Personally I really say PC. But in the industry, if you don't have a Mac it seems as if you're laughed at and ignored. It's unfair.

I'd go for PC, although Macs seem to be better for arts and stuff.. I used to work on a Mac at school and I hated it with passion. It crashed as often as a PC does and I got never used to the interface.
I guess when you plan to do more on your computer than just draw, you should get a PC, but of course that's just my opinion xD I'd never want a Mac (only perhaps if I have the money to buy a Mac for work and a PC for personal use), they're way too expensive for what you can do with them (and that goes for everything Apple ever released).

I have both Mac and PC..and the latter really sucks..
Mac almost never get infected by virus (unless you download XXX or somebody really trying to prank on you) plus it's fast and seldom lag compared to PC..
Plus, Macbook pro (I'm using this, Mac OS X version10.5.7, according to what I find in my laptop.. )allows you to install windows vista and lastest XP as well..

Mac is for artists! XD

The misconception is that Macs are geared towards artists. This isn't necessarily true. Compatibility is always a huge issue. And specs differ from machine to machine. In my opinion, PC's are the best because you can build them to your own specifications and they are cheap. Mac's are very pricey and you don't always get what you want with them.

I built my PC from the ground up, with the RAM, video card and processor needed to perform the tasks that I do every day. If you can find someone that will build you a machine then I would recommend that. Either go with Win XP or Windows 7 for the OS.

I highly recommend that you get a mac, they're performance with software like photoshop and art graphics are stunning. many people in art college told me up front that if you love art and graphics, an apple is the BEST choice.
